Houston Implant Dentists

Mini-dental implant consists of miniature titanium implants that act like tooth roots. Retaining fixtures attach these MDIs to the base of the dentures. There are many different advertisements for Houston implant dentists in the papers and on the Internet these days.  People see these ads all the time and they draw all sorts of conclusions.  Some of these conclusions are accurate, while others are not accurate at all.   The biggest misperception people have is that of fixed prices.  As a matter of principle, no Houston implant dentist can guarantee fixed prices for each and every individual case that enters his or her office.  Each patient is a unique individual, and there are many variables that factor in to a person’s treatment that cannot be set in stone prior to the patient even seeing the dentist for the first time.

Other basic facts about Houston implant dentists also need to be clearly understood in order for people to know what to look for one.

Houston implant dentists have to attend Dental School first prior to attending Cosmetic Dental School.  Mastering both the medical and cosmetic elements of patient treatment is essential to forming a solid working foundation of skills upon which they then add one of the most advanced specializations in all of medical science.

Keep in mind that these experts are doing much more than fixing problems with teeth.  They are actually replacing teeth with permanent prosthetics that are intended to last for the life of the patient.  The importance of this service cannot be stressed enough.  While other forms of tooth replacements do exist, none offers the medical or cosmetic dental benefits as does implant dentistry.

This is not a cheap service and we never mislead people by claiming that it is.  What we do maintain as a fact is it is probably the most valuable expensive thing you can ever invest in if you lose one or more of your teeth.

While dental implants do cost more than bridges and dentures, they are certainly worth the money.  They are certainly less conspicuous and difficult to clean than dentures, and they are also better for natural teeth than are bridges.  Bridges have to use of natural teeth as anchors to support the bridge.  Over time, this puts stress on tooth enamel and causes

Dental implants, however, go directly into the jaw bone in a way that actually helps the bone grow back toward its original shape.  They do not impact the surrounding teeth in any way and thus are much more tooth-preserving than dental bridges.

Dental implants help prevent tooth alignment problems, chewing and associated dietary problems, and even wear on tear on natural teeth when a combination of implants and bridgework is necessary.  Aesthetically speaking, they are virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth and will not be noticed when a person who has them smiles.

Due to the many roles they play, dental implants themselves are rather complex prosthetics that consist of three main components: the implant base, the abutment, and the prosthetic crown.

These components are installed in two separate phases: the surgical phase and the prosthetic phase.

The surgical phase involves placing the actual implant into the jawbone itself, and the prosthetic phase involves placing the abutment and crown over the implant base once the bone and gum tissue have grown around it.

So why, out of all the places in Houston that advertise dental implants, should a patient come to our office?  Because we are one of the few offices that does both the surgical and prosthetic aspects of the procedure.   Our resident implant dentist, Dr. Charles Campbell, has mentored for over 20 years now with Dr. Hilt Tatum, who is regarded as the leading authority in the world on cosmetic dental implants.

Coming to our office avoids the complication of having to visit two specialists and deal with payment and insurance arrangements under two separate invoices—and it is more convivial to comfort and care to work with the same dentist throughout the course of the procedure.
