Can Dental Implants Support a Lower Denture?

Ask the Dental Experts

We welcome all questions and comments regarding dentistry in the hope that we increase your dental "IQ" and help you make better dental health decisions.

Due to several unfortunate experiences with a dentist, I do not have enough bone and tissue on my left lower jaw. What extra cost would there be to have dental implants to support a lower denture? I have seen one prosthodontist who told me I would never be able to wear a lower denture without implants to support it. Do I have any affordable options?

Thanks for the inquiry, Vicki.

You need to have a comprehensive exam, x-rays and photos appointment to be able to answer your questions.
Lower dentures are difficult for us to make and for you to use. The use of implants dramatically stabilizes lower dentures….a terrific option for someone in trouble. There are always several options for treatment. We would be happy to help you understand your choices. It will depend a lot on what teeth you have remaining and their condition. If you have no teeth remaining, then the option of an overdenture is probably your best choice, but from afar, I would only be guessing. Give us a call.
